Hollywod's New Museum

Yes, it says it in the title. Los Angeles is planning to make a museum based on our filming history that we have created over the years. The organization who is bringing this to life is the organization behind the Oscars and they are planning to release the museum around 2017. That might be a long way from now, but I am sure it will be a treat well waited for. This museum will bring culture and the history to people who may not know the things we know today like how we first show movies through actual film reel and then we became all digital. Also the fact that we don't have much museum that will go through the history in film making. We have other museums that go into one subject like the Grammy Museum which tells all about the history of music and how it effected us as people and how music influenced a new generation of kids.A film museum will do the same exact thing just with film instead of music. This museum will bring students and teenagers the history of film making and how hard it is to be in it, also the fact that most film makers when through tough times just to be where they are. This will also inspire a future film maker to maybe want to be a part of that history and make them push harder to achieve that goal. And for the consumers they will just have a little fun museum to go to just to learn about films. In all, the article gave me a question in which why didn't we do this already and why didn't the industry involving film making didn't contribute more to this project? Well, at least they are making it now rather than 100 years from now.

Film Weekly #5

Well this week we are really far behind in are film. Firstly we are missing a lot of audio for most of the entire film because we didn't really plan on when to record audio we just went along as the days went by.  We are missing some shots that I find essential when showing emotion or information in a film. We are missing the close-up of my face  when I fall and get an injury. Then another close-up is when I look at the time when I am waiting for my date in the donut scene. I had to redo the ending of the film because one of our group members which I seriously don't know which one it is, mest up the ending and the shots and sound clips were all over the place. Our DP has done nothing at all with the group, just was at one shooting and that's it.  Other than that, there is nothing else to say about this weekend.

Film Weekly #4

Well nothing really special happened this week. We did "finish" filming, but looking at the film that we edited so far, I think we need to shoot or or re-shoot more shots. I think my acting was decent yet I can't judge myself, I have to wait for other's opinions. We are barely doing audio which is pretty bad scheduling because we should have been recording audio and doing shots at the same time. Other than that, we are doing pretty good. Ya, for me this felt like a slow week...

Film Weekly #3

This week started off pretty fantastic  and yet also disappointing. On Tuesday we filmed two scenes which went fantastic. We put the footage together when we imported into the computer. Everybody laughed at the scene that we barely put together which meant that we still have potential. Most of the students that saw it called me cute, yet I seriously don't see myself as "cute" but hey, what are you going to do. Then yesterday on Thursday was a total bummer. Firstly are producer didn't check in with the flower shop before hand and so when we went there we asked the employee that was working there but she said that we had to wait for the owner to come. So while we waited, we started to set up our equipment. Then another owner from the store across it was in a bad mood and told us straight away that they place where we were standing was his property and that he doesn't want us to film there. We told him that we weren't going to film his place at all just the flower shop but he kept on insisting that we leave. I would have excepted it but he kind of pissed me off because he said "nobody wants you to film here" which he was implying that every store next to his was unavailable which was total BS. Then we tried a different flower shop but couldn't because they said they were to busy that day. So Thursday was a waist of our time because we didn't film anything...

Film Weekly #2

Well this week we have been just filming and talking about what are we going to do with our group. I am the actor but I hate being it, I suck at acting. But I think Jose is going to be the actor now because the  group doesn't want Jose to edit the film so they rather have me edit it instead. In my opinion of the group, I feel that we are all unorganized. Most of the time the Director and the DP are just winging it as they go along. The Producer and I usually have great ideas in the group when it comes to what shots look good but we can't say anything because we are not DP so we can't really put any input, in other words, it is not our jobs to do it. I kind of want to be Director because I would like to implement the things I have seen in movies and shows countless of times, but then again, the problem with that is that if you mess up, most of the blame goes to you. In other news, we were filming on Wednesday and I say it kind of went pretty decent. Just two minor problems that bite us in the ass when we put it in the computer to see the footage we have. In one scene, it was supposed to be a close-up of my face while I was walking, but the DP wanted to make me walk slower so the camera wouldn't shake a lot, but when we edited that part, the speed of my walking to the speed of that shot didn't match and kind of ruined it. The second thing is we try to emulate it being "Night" time by messing around with the exposure in the camera settings, but of course it was to dark, we barely realized it was to dark when we imported. We actually found a solution by messing around with the colors in Final Cut Pro but then there was an other issue where you can see lens flares coming from the cars so it made it noticeable that we shot it in daylight. I hope we step it up in our production because I just want to at least make this project look decent and not half-assed.

Film Weekly #1

This week we have been organizing a 4-5 minute feature film for our film class. Everybody has a group of six in their production. I am currently with Jose, Brian, Efren, Darien, and Andrew and yet so far it has been going decent. Currently Jose and I are competing for the main actor in the film, yet I hope I actually lose because I hate acting and also I suck at it. I'd rather be the camera man because I am more used to that job, but hey, you don't always get what you want. Efren is the producer of the film and so far he has been doing a pretty good job in handling it. Darien is the director of the film, so I don't know if he is up for it considering I have never seen him direct so I might want to see what he is capable of. Andrew is the camera man so by Darien trust in him, I would presume that Andrew knows how to work the camera. Brian is going to do the foley which at least gives him something to do in the group. Currently two of our locations are a restaurant and a flower shop, which may be hard to get because some places don't like allowing people to film unless they pay to shoot there. So far the script seems alright to me, there is nothing new I have seen in the script that I have seen from other stories. The only problem I am going to have is that maybe, not quite sure yet, if some of the group members are going to be busy at times when we need to record. Other than that we will just have to see what's coming up for next week.

Is the "F-Word" Really That Bad?

We all know that some movies use curse words on a daily basis. Some curse words even add some emotion to the scene itself. Yet some say that movies now a days are using it excessively in movies to the point where it doesn't really mean anything anymore. Like how when you were in elementary and when someone said "stupid" every kid in the class would be astonished because you said that word. Then when you got older and start to mature you start to realize that it is just a simpler meaning of the word unintelligent or mentally challenged. The same goes with this. Sooner or later people as a consumer will start to think it's repetitive and wouldn't really care about the word anymore. Then that would maybe cause some issue because what would happen if the writer intended to use the "F" word to add more intensity to the scene yet other just might feel like he is just using just to say it. This is why writers should lower the curses in films so that future films can use the words as well but not get criticize on using it though.
